Established in 1972, the South End Community Day Care is licensed for 81 children aged 6 months to 12 years. It is an independent, not-for-profit organization that has a board of directors and parents can sit on the board if they wish.

Our facilities are licensed by the Department of Community Services and are inspected regularly by Fire, Health and Early Childhood Development Services officials

Staff Qualifications:
All teachers and administrators have a provincially recognized degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education. They participate in continuing education through workshops. Additionally they also have certificates in CPR and Emergency First Aid.

Ratios:
The Centre’s ratios are well within the guidelines of the Provincial regulations. Children attending a public school may enrol in a noon-hour and after school programme.

Meals:
A nutritious lunch is provided, along with morning and afternoon snacks, all of which meet the requirements of the Canada Food Guide. Sample Menu.

Celebrations and Birthdays:
The Centre is a culturally diverse community. On birthdays and special occasions, small parties are organized. All holidays important for each child are celebrated.
